Notes & Reviews:
Legendary performances on CD for the first time! The Sons of Light was commissioned for the Schools Music Association. The composer's wife wrote the text, and the work was sung by a choir of 1,150 in 1951. Holst set Walt Whitman's lines on The Mystic Trumpeter to music in 1904, his largest work up until that time. The Ode on the Nativity is generally considered Sir Hubert Parry's masterpiece.
