Notes & Reviews:

Born in Denver, Colorado, Gustave Hoyer primarily studied with George Tsontakis and James Sellars. As he points out, "the music on this disc represents a sort of counterpoint with the mainstream music of popular culture on one hand and the academic "aloofness" of serious music. Hoyer has cited, among others, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, John Williams and Prokofiev as influences.
