Notes & Reviews:

New Recordings! In 1883, Charles Villiers Stanford was appointed Professor of Composition at the newly-founded Royal College of Music where he had a unique influence on several generations of British composers. But he was also an important composer, although his conservative music all too often been neglected. Stanford published four concertos, but left another five, none of which have previously been heard, including the early Cello Concerto recorded here.
