Notes & Reviews:

Robert Casadesus, like his mentor Ravel, was a classical pianist, believing in absolute fidelity to the score allied to a formal clarity imbued with a subtle elegance. These WDR recordings of the Mozart 'Concerto K491' and 'Concerto K595' are live and accompanied by the great conductor George Szell dating from 1960 and 1958 respectively. Both were recorded commercially by Sony in the studio in 1961 and 1962 but as Bryce Morrison in his note points out, "But here, without the chilling need for re-takes and corrections, his playing is of truly miraculous poise and refinement.”
