This particular Bach was not one of J.S. Bach's sons, but was greatly admired by him just the same. The son of choirmaster Jacob Bach, Johann Ludwig composed these Motets within the Thuringian tradition, but these richly expressive works go beyond the basic liturgical requirements. These rare pieces are a treasured enrichment of the repertoire.
