Van Eyck: Der Fluyten Lust-hof / Bosgraaf

Album Summary

>Van Eyck, Jan Jacob : Der Fluyten Lust-hof
Performer Composer

Notes & Reviews:

Jacob van Eyck Esquire was a contemporary of Rembrandt's. Unlike the famous painter he mainly resided in Utrecht, city of many churches in the center of The Netherlands. At the time the blind composer and city carillonneur was also well-known for his improvised virtuoso recorder playing. On 3 CD's young Dutch recorder player Erik Bosgraaf tackles a selection of 65 works from van Eyk's opus. Playing on copies of period instruments he treats this music freely almost suggesting improvisation.

Gramophone Magazine
Bosgraaf's virtuosity is stunning, as is his artistry. As a reference work this set should be considered indispensable; as one to be dipped in for pleasure, highly desirable.
