Notes & Reviews:

Today, Jose Vianna da Motta is best known as a composer, and Friedheim, born in Russia, was active mainly in the United Kingdom and the United States as a pianist and teacher. Despite distinctly different styles, they are both considered truly major pupils of Franz Liszt. It is hoped that this release, produced with the benefit of modern technology, will allow modern scholars to appreciate their substantial talents.
