Notes & Reviews:

Recorded in 1982, this collection of Songs and Airs by Purcell features world-renowned early music singer Emma Kirkby. It was produced during the ‘revival’ of the baroque and renaissance eras and remained in the Decca catalogue for many years. Christopher Hogwood, Anthony Rooley, Richard Campbell and Catherine Mackintosh, all members of the Academy of Ancient Music and each acclaimed instrumentalists and champions of the baroque join Emma Kirkby.

Penguin Guide
The Evening Hymn is radiantly done, and so are many of the less well-known airs which regularly bring new revelation. Excellent recording, if with the voice forward, given striking extra presence on CD
