Notes & Reviews:

Sunleif Rasmussen (b. 1961) is the foremost Faroese composer of classical music. He studied with well known composers such as Ib Norholm and Ivar Frounberg, and his international breakthrough helped to place his native islands on the world map of music. Rasmussen's works always have a natural complexity, combining his jazz background with a rich tradition of Faroese folk music and electro-acoustic and spectral music. The result is highly evocative and beautiful to listen to, as demonstrated by the five works on this CD.
