Notes & Reviews:

The renowned Karl Bohm's special relationship with the music of Beethoven began not with the Symphonies but rather with the work that marked a crucial point in his early career: the composer's only opera, Fidelio, which Bohm claims was the first operatic score he ever possessed and the first opera he ever saw at the age of five. As anyone who followed his remarkable career knows, the Symphonies would be a cornerstone of his live performances and recordings. These live performances, among his last, include his only version of Symphony No. 2 apart from his complete commercial cycle of 1970.
