Notes & Reviews:
The masque was a particularly English phenomenon, a courtly entertainment originally given masked, in which dance, poetry, music and theatre alternated in spectacular settings. 'The Domestication of the Animal World', written and arranged by a group of several composers (as was often the period practice), was performed on the occasion of the Festival Oude Muziek (Festival for Early Music) 2007, the Brisk Recorder Quartet commissioned animations to accompany this Mask from 1613. This CD comes with a bonus DVD of Animations by students of the Art, Media and Technology department of the University of Utrecht.
