Notes & Reviews:
It was in 1990 that Timpani made its first d'Indy recording, featuring the 'Sonata for Violin and Piano'. Another devoted to the 'Cello Sonata' followed. Soloists from the Luxembourg Philharmonic now join forces with Francois Kerdoncuff (who had recorded the Sonata), to give us a fine, hardly run-of-the-mill, anthology spanning a long period of d'Indy's creative life. Here we find all the master's characteristics: solidity of construction, melodic invention, fine, lively harmony that brings out the attraction for color and national vigor.
