Notes & Reviews:

Pianist Leon Fleisher joins the pantheon of America's cultural giants when he receives the 2007 Kennedy Center Honor in December. One of the most dazzling and sublime pianists of his age, he has triumphed in a career of uncommon breadth and drama. Fleisher was only 15 when the legendary conductor Pierre Monteux hailed him as "the pianistic find of the century." His brilliant career - superbly documented in his recordings for CBS Masterworks - was cut short by an early onset of carpal tunnel syndrome in his right hand, which forced him to focus for many years on repertoire for piano left hand. In the last decade, however, Fleisher has regained the use of his right hand and, with it, an extraordinary creative "spring" in an already legendary musical career.
