Notes & Reviews:

As a composer, the Hungarian Erenst von Dohnanyi didn't achieve the kind of world-wide fame as his contemporaries Bartok and Kodaly; the one work most people know is the delightful Variations on a Nursery Rhyme. But Dohnanyi did achieve renown as a performer. His chamber music consists of a dozen works (best known being the Trio for Strings). His sextet is a fine example of his Brahmsian style.
