- Jean Langlais (Organ)
Notes & Reviews:
Jean Langlais was born in Bretagne into a modest family of stonemasons. Having lost his sight at the age of two, he was enrolled in 1917 in the National Institute for the Blind in Paris. In 1930 he graduated with highest honors from the organ class of Marcel Dupre and the composition class of Paul Dukas at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris. Now, at the close of the centenary year of his birth, Motette has compiled this remarkable boxed set, which includes live performances of the master on the famed Cavaille-Coll organ of St. Clotilde and other fine instruments.
