Notes & Reviews:

Brian Chapple studied at the Royal Academy of Music, where his principal composition teacher was Lennox Berkeley and his works, such as "Scherzos" for Four Pianos, "Venus Fly Trap" and "Magnificat" have brought him audience and critical acclaim over the past thirty years. Jazz and swing influences pervade much of his music. One is struck by the widely varied styles and idioms of the piano works here. The earliest, the Sonata, is most challenging from the point of view of both the performer and listener. The latest, "Bagatelles Diverses," is also pianistically demanding, but uses a more straightforward musical language.
