Notes & Reviews:

This highly acclaimed series continues. Like most Cathedrals, Norwich has had many different organs throughout its nearly 900 years of history, and the present instrument, easily the largest of them all, contains pipe work by builders from the 17th century to the present day. Soloist David Dunnett was educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham, where he was an organ pupil of John Pryer and Dr. John Bishop. He became Organist and Master of the Music at Norwich Cathedral in January 1996. The history of the Organ(s) of Newcastle Cathedral is more complex, and deserves all the attention found in the booklet for REG189. But it is worth mentioning that the case of the instrument built in 1676 can still be seen today, as it makes up the central part of the Transept Organ case. Scott Farrell is in great demand as a recitalist, teacher and conductor and is on the teaching staff of the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and the University Organist. In 2003 he founded the Lantern Singers, a children's choir based at Newcastle Cathedral.
