Notes & Reviews:
It's fitting that this comprehensive collection of Schubert song cycles and lieder should feature the artistry of German baritone Siegfried Lorenz. At the age of 15 he heard Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau perform "Winterreise" - a performance that opened up Lorenz's imagination to the potential of the human voice. Some time later he took professional lessons, and from 1969 to 1973 he was under contract to the Berlin Comic Opera. Over the years he has constantly extended his artistic range and his repertoire now ranges from Bach to contemporary works, with lieder recitals, oratorio and opera performances taking equal priority.
