Notes & Reviews:
At the age of six, Anne-Sophie Mutter was turned on to the violin after hearing David Oistrakh play the Brahms sonatas and being awed by both his playing and his personality on stage. The big break in Mutter's career came at 13, when she and her brother, Christoph, gave a violin and piano recital at the Lucerne Festival. Following this triumphant event, she became a protegee of Herbert von Karajan, and her career progressed rapidly from there. This 2-CD set contains her finest work for EMI Classics, including several recordings with Maestro Karajan and the Vienna Philharmonic, as well as others with Riccardo Muti and Seiji Ozawa. A brilliant retrospective from one of the world's greatest violinists!
