Notes & Reviews:

During her long composing life, Elizabeth Maconchy created a substantial body of choral works, both a cappella and with ensemble. When she came to England in 1923 to study at the Royal College of Music, she had heard an orchestra only once, yet her early successes were her orchestral works. Composing until she was in her 80s, she created a wealth of music for a variety of instrumental and vocal forces. As Odaline de la Martinez writes, "this CD... is a labor of love, a gesture of respect and appreciation for a composer of the highest calibre and attempts to give an overview of Maconchy's choral output, from the early works to her later years."
