This recording is dedicated to contemporary composers writing specifically for the horn quartet. A featured work on their very popular disc "Take Nine" included Eric Ewazen's Grand Canyon Suite. He was so pleased with their work, he offered them the chance to give the first performances of "Myths and Legends," completed in 2005. Member Kerry Turner has also had equal success as a composer and hornist. Originally formed in 1982, the American Horn Quartet offers an intriguing repertoire which includes not only traditional works for horn, but imaginative arrangements of works of diverse genres as well as original pieces by the members themselves.
