Conductor Jack Wall leads the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra and Crouch End Festival Chorus through many of the most popular video game themes and creates a glorious aural paradise for the gamer in all of us. If you are hooked on the music from video games like Sonic The Hedgehog, Myst, Final Fantasy, Warcraft, Super Mario Brothers and others, then imagine those themes as performed by an orchestra. The truth, my friends, is that the music contained here within is worthless tosh, and unpleasantly manipulative tosh at that. I'm happy to accept that in the context of a video game it has a function: but its vapid Romantic climaxes, shopping-centre beats, banks of ambient choirs and cheesier-than-a-Dairylea-fondue melodies, played with sinister authoritarian precision, aren't anything to do with music - this is the music business at its crudest and most unfettered.

VIDEO GAMES LIVE is a unique experiment involving video game soundtracks and an orchestra. The project involves a full-sized orchestra and choir performing classic montages from some of the world's most popular video game theme music, showcasing the orchestra's technical resources as well as its bombastic live energy. Proving that video game music is very much a legitimate music style, VIDEO GAMES LIVE removes the visual element and allows the listener to bask in the emotions spawned by music alone.
