Jascha Heifetz Fireworks - Lalo, Ravel, Chausson, Sarasate, etc

Notes & Reviews:

The CD, which runs for 71’35, is the only one currently available in which some of the pieces are interpreted by Jascha Heifetz. Heifetz was well-known for his encores, which unfailingly enthused audiences. His success as a performer of short, virtuosic pieces was such that he often dedicated the entire second part of his recitals to them, disregarding more serious works such as Beethoven's and Brahms' 'Sonatas'. Heifetz recorded Saint-Saens's 'Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso' twice, in 1935 and 1951. The latter, contained in the present CD, is considered by far the better one.

Gramophone Magazine
Heifetz was and is supreme, as all other great fiddlers would surely acknowledge
