Notes & Reviews:

Scarlatti, Hasse, Cimarosa, Bellini, Donizetti, and Pasculli - six composers from three centuries, all linked and inspired by the city of Naples. For this new album, oboist Christoph Hartmann embarked on a trip to Italy, and unearthed some true gems for his instrument amongst the works of the great opera composers and piano masters: music full of virtuosity, drama, and melody, all drawn from the streets of Italy's other eternal city. The featured works are world premiere recordings (except for the well-known Bellini concerto). Christoph Hartmann and his arranger Wolfgang Renz compiled the Scarlatti and Cimarosa concertos from sonatas of these early keyboard masters. The Hasse concerto is an original work, whereas the works by Donizetti and Pasculli are originally set for oboe and piano but have been orchestrated by Renz.
