Notes & Reviews:

The latest release by the New York City-based Meridian Arts Ensemble, 'Timbrando' marks the group's twentieth anniversary. Named after a track Hermeto Pascoal composed for the ensemble in 1997, the album is a crosscultural travelogue, spotlighting the music the group has collected on tour in Latin America and in the US. Consisting of five brass players and one percussionist (supplemented when necessary with piano, guitar, bass, and saxophone), the MAE has helped to change the face of chamber music with its innovative repertoire and high-energy performances.
