Notes & Reviews:

The Canconer de Barcelona (Barcelona Songbook) stands as the most important manuscript of sacred and secular polyphony within the Catalan territory of the Crown of Aragon in the early 16th century. It contains 127 works of sacred and secular polyphony by the most eminent Spanish and Franco-Flemish composers of the time. This recording includes all the secular works in Manuscript Barcelona M.454, a section of the manuscript copied before 1525, as well as four religious works; this repertoire constitutes part of the most important heritage of the Renaissance in Catalonia.
