Notes & Reviews:

Works by three little-known Spanish composers from the Baroque era are heard on this recording. Both Rossell and Junca were born, trained and lived out their lives in Spain and are associated with the Cathedral of Tarragona. Fajer, also known as lo Spagnoletto, however, though born in Spain, was trained in Naples, although he came back to Saragossa and assumed the position of choirmaster, which he held until his death. His Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross was written at the same time as the more well-known one by Haydn.
