Notes & Reviews:

Born in Switzerland, Schaeuble developed a strong interest in music at a very young age, strongly influenced by hearing concerts performed by the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. He studied in Leipzig and moved to Berlin in 1931, living there until 1942, when he returned to Switzerland. His promising career underwent an abrupt turn of events when he returned to Switzerland as his fellow countrymen were suspicious and disapproving of his stay in Berlin during the period of National Socialism. Only a few of his works received performances and Schaeuble felt that he was the victim of a conspiracy that was to blame for his failures. These performances are taken from the archives of the Zentralbibliothek Zurich.
