Notes & Reviews:
This is the second of two discs of the complete piano quartets and string trios of Max Reger. The 'Piano Quartet in A minor, Op. 133', completed during the first month of World War I, is a deeply expressive and intense work, using the full range of the instruments. Re-modelled from the 'Flute Serenade, Op. 141a', the graceful and melodic 'String Trio in D minor' is altogether of a sunnier and lighter disposition.
