Notes & Reviews:
This performance of Orff's popular dramatic cantata 'Carmina burana' was recorded live at the Barbican Centre in November 2007, Richard Hickox conducting the London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus with Laura Claycomb, Christopher Maltman and Barry Banks as the soloists. 'Music OMH' wrote of the performance, "The London Symphony Orchestra performed the work with all the commitment and exuberance that one expects from them. The three soloists were outstanding, singing with a unified dynamic power and depth of expression that is rare to find today."
BBC Music Magazine
... it's the excellence of choruses and orchestra you keep coming back to... a richly enjoyable performance of a much-recorded masterpiece.
Hickox leads a vibrant performance that has a real sense of occasion.
