The composer says, "This CD is a blatant attempt to promote brass chamber music of mine. With the exception of the Quintet Folksongs, all these pieces are here recorded for the first time, or for the first time in this version. Having conceived the project, I thought I should also make some sort of record of my playing, deciding to include myself in a few tracks as bass trombonist, and also to include some archival material from my horn-playing days. I am a part-time composer, and these pieces come from times when I took a break from performing."
