Album Summary
Conductor Ensemble ComposerNotes & Reviews:
George Weldon had a colorful career as a conductor. He was the very popular chief conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra until he was ousted because of behind-the-scenes plotting. Barbirolli was so disgusted with Weldon's treatment that he invited him to become associate conductor at the Halle. Weldon recorded with London orchestras for EMI - some 82 titles with Walter Legge's Philharmonia - and this recording comes from digitally remastered performances from this time.
