Notes & Reviews:

Johann Michael Bohm, who served in the orchestra of the landgrave of Hessen-Darmstadt between 1711 and 1729, was an oboist and recorder player. Incidentally he was also the brother-in-law of Georg Philipp Telemann, who wrote some pieces especially for him. These works represent some of the most beautiful (and difficult) that could be written for the recorder at this time. This music fascinates from the first to the last note with its originality and this is due in no small part to its Polish inflection.
