Notes & Reviews:

Simon Mawhinney was born in Northern Ireland. His musical studies were inspired by the virtuosity of John Ogdon, Ogdon's recordings led Mawhinney to the music of Sorabji, Messiaen and Boulez. He studied at the Universities of Oxford, York and Queen's Belfast. His music has been performed throughout Europe, Korea, South Africa and the United States. He is a lecturer in music at the Queen's University of Belfast. The works on this recording are all world premieres.
