Album Summary
Performers
Robert Levin (Piano)
Maximilian Hornung (Cello)
Notes & Reviews:
This CD presents premiere recordings of four Yehudi Wyner orchestral works. Wyner's Piano Concerto, "Chiavi in Mano" was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Music in 2006. Performed by the work's dedicatees, Robert Levin and the Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by Robert Spano, the piece is a tour-de-force of high spirits and compositional brilliance. Wyner's Cello Concerto: 'Prologue and Narrative', the longest work on this program, is a much more introspective score.
