Album Summary
Conductor Ensemble ComposerNotes & Reviews:
This is the latest CD exhibiting the glorious "Stuttgart Sound" with Roger Norrington, featuring two of the most well-known works of the classical music canon.
Gramophone Magazine
Norrington's vibrato-less Tchaikovsky is contentious but viscerally exciting. All in all, with a neatly characterised studio-recorded Nutcracker Suite as fill-up, Norrington's interpretation of the Fifth does not incontrovertibly make the case that vibrato is necessarily an evil modern excrescence, but its positive virtues are worth considering.
