Notes & Reviews:

"...it comes as a relief to be reminded afresh that the composer could be a master charmer in miniatures and smaller forms...the material on this disc was newly recorded in 2008, when Suk was nearing 80...only Suk seems to know how to draw the dumka flavor from these pieces [the Miniatures] without exaggerating their all too Slavic schmaltz...The elder Josef Suk, the composer, was grandfather to Josef Suk, the violinist...I'm more inclined now than I was before to hear [composer] Suk's early effort as a highly accomplished work. A dedicated, sympathetic, and far more idiomatic performance does indeed make a big difference. This is a superb release, one that is thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end, and one that is very strongly recommended." - Fanfare
