Notes & Reviews:

The latest entry in Hanssler's critically acclaimed Koechlin series, this CD presents two of his late works including his expansive tribute to the Cantor of Leipzig, "Offrande musicale sur le nom de Bach Op. 187," which lay unperformed until 1973. The current recording is of the work's second performance, and incorporates textual corrections made from the original manuscripts. Also included is the somewhat better known tone poem Les Bandar-log Op. 176, the centerpiece of his large orchestral cycle based on Kipling's 'Jungle Book'.

The Guardian
Koechlin's score [Les Bandar-Log] touches on a range of early 20th-century styles, from Debussyan impressionism to 12-note technique, but somehow welds all the tongue-in-cheek references into a dazzling whole.
