Notes & Reviews:
To exploit the full resources of the organ, Kimberly Marshall has selected a program of fantasies, beginning with the earliest English "Fancys" of the 16th century and culminating with the exotic Fantaisies of early 20th-century French composer Jehan Alain. In between, we are treated to Baroque examples by Sweelinck and Bach, as well as classical and romantic examples by Mozart and Franck. The recording is bookended with Fantasies by J. S. Bach, showing the different ways in which the composer developed the genre.
