Following her best-selling interpretation of the Goldberg Variations, these recitals of 1991 and 1993 add Beethoven's Pastoral' Sonata and the great and demanding Schubert Piano Sonata D.960 to Nikolayeva's discography. Her close involvement with Shostakovich's music has tended to link her with Russian music so this CD of Austrian/German classics shows her in a new light. The CD is in very good stereo and has a lovely bonus with Schubert's well-known 'Impromptu No.3'.
