Notes & Reviews:

One of the most well known works of the symphonic canon, performed by a modern symphony orchestra but with an understanding of historical performance practices. The fact that Roger Norrington and his historically sensitive orchestra would turn to the music of Dvorak following their recordings of Tchaikovsky was to have been expected. And naturally, he has chosen the most well-known symphony of the Czech master: the Ninth, composed in America, utilizing the melodies he heard performed by Native American tribes and African Americans during his travels of the continent. Dvorak called his symphony "From the New World," and Roger Norrington and company provide a performance as exciting as discovering a new world! The remainder of the program is filled out by a surprising performance of Dvorak's popular Carnival Overture.

”The playing is cleanly articulated and admirably transparent”-Fanfare
