Noel mewton-wood was a brilliant young australian pianist, whose life was cut tragically short at the age of just 31. This cd is timed to coincide with the release of a fascinating book "the virtuoso" by sonia orchard. The novel is based on the facts of mewton-wood's life and is told by a narrator who is first fan, briefly lover, and then friend. The repertoire on this disc features the very best recordings by this outstanding musician and artist, including such composers as chopin, schumann, liszt, tchaikovsky and beethoven.
