Notes & Reviews:

The Second Symphony was composed and scored remarkably quickly. Elgar himself said, "I have worked at fever heat, and the thing is tremendous in energy." The disc also contains the Percy Bysshe Shelley poem "Songs," read by Sir Mark Elder. The booklet includes the text of the poem.
