Notes & Reviews:

This is the premiere recording of composer Kallor's acclaimed song-cycles of poems by Emily Dickinson and William Butler Yeats, sung by mezzo-soprano Adrina Zabala. The album also features Kallor's setting of Christina Rossetti's poem "Song" and a "Lullaby" with Lyrics by GRAMMY winner Herschel Garfein.

American Record Guide, September/October 2013
Gregg Kallor's songs are expertly sung and delivered, breathing a sense of ease in this performance. Kallor proves himself a craftsman of subtlety of line. He has the keen ability to set texts in such a way that the phrase inflection and comprehension is present yet never forced, as new music has a tendency to be. This combination gives the listener a unique experience. 'I should not dare to leave my friend' is gorgeous. This song has the best arc of the collection. It is immediately followed by 'Still own thee - still thou art', and the two pieces complement each other and make both more meaningful. They contrast emotionally, and because of that seem more connected. 'Bee! I'm expecting you!' is compelling for its rhythmic energy and fantastic piano collaboration. 'We Cover Thee - Sweet Face' is gorgeous, connected, and grounded singing. 'Wild Nights - Wild Nights!' has an impressionist like texture and lines in the piano. Kallor's settings of William Butler Yeats and Emily Dickinson poems are personal journeys. And in the hands of a singer like Adriana Zabala his voice is heard and remembered. Gorgeous packaging; brief notes, texts.
