Conductor Ensemble ComposerNotes & Reviews:
Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio for soloists, choir and orchestra is the most popular vocal work of the composer and the most beloved Christmas Oratorio in general. Every year it is played during Advent- and Christmas time. It is full of festive choirs, the musical version of the Christmas story within the recitatives, chants and arias of vocal soloists. In this live recording from December 2005 from the Trinitatis-Church in Copenhagen the soloists are Maria Keohane (soprano), Andrea Pellegrini (alto), Bo Kristian Jensen (tenor) and Morten Frank Larsen (bass). The Trinitatis-choir and the Trinintatis-chamber orchestra are conducted by Per Enevold, one of the most profiled conductors from Denmark. Thanks to the SACD technique this recording offers a magnificent sound image.
