Notes & Reviews:

What would Mozart's 75th symphony have sounded like if it were written in 1821? How would Mahler's world have developed after his Tenth symphony? Could Claude Vivier have grown into one of today's most important composers, if he were given a longer life? The fact is that many composers died too young, and it leaves an unsatisfactory feeling when a composer lets go of life in the middle of a tantalizing musical development. This problem is the same with Jan Rokus van Roosendael, who passed away in February 2005 at the age of 44 while his music was in a transitional phase. But this double CD offers a good representation of everything Van Roosendael stood for in his short life, paying tribute to the legacy he left behind for his fellow man.
