Notes & Reviews:

One of England's great songwriters, Philip Heseltine, better known as Peter Warlock was once described as one of the most colorful talents in English 20th-century music. This historical 2-CD set is taken from the personal collection of John Bishop, one of the founders of the Peter Warlock Society.

Musicweb calls this a vital set Classical Source says 'exemplary an important historical release' The set includes recordings of Warlock's music made between 1925 and 1952, by many of his friends and contemporaries including John Barbirolli, Constant Lambert, Peter Pears, Oscar Natzke, and many others; CD1 contains orchestral and chamber music and the awesome `Curlew' while CD2 is devoted to songs, with 25 tracks. Some rare tracks are issued here on CD for the first time, in excellent digitally restored sound.
