Franz Lehar: Paganini / Anneliese Rothenberger, Nicolai Gedda, Olivera Miljakovic, Ulf Hoelscher

Album Summary

>Lehár, Franz : Paganini
Performer Conductor Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

From Warner Classics' Cologne Collection comes Franz Léhar's Paganini. Two lovers who don't get to enjoy a happy ending, and a finale featuring an extensive violin solo in lieu of the customary large-scale vocal ensemble: the work heralded the composer's break with operetta tradition, incorporating a tragic plot and more dramatic music than he had previously written. In addition to the leads Anneliese Rothenberger and Nicolai Gedda, this recording also features the violinist Ulf Hoelscher.
