I can find over a dozen recordings of it on my shelves. Shoulda been mid-price
"Dixit Dominus" by Handel and the Magnificat of Vivaldi may not be their composers' best known pieces, but these two choral works provide the material for some lively and forceful music making under the baton of Winfried Toll. The Freiburg chorus is first-rate, spinning off their divisions--the Handel is, in most movements, even faster than Gardiner's 2001 version!--and providing some nicely shaded dynamics, too. Note the appearance (uncredited on the disc sleeve) of Dorothea Roschmann as one of the two soprano soloists. Texts only provided in Latin and German, typically for this label, but these are not hard to find. The bad news: at 47:23, this is woefully short timing for a full-price CD. Otherwise, I can't imagine many listeners being unhappy with the performance or sound.
