Notes & Reviews:

Following a highly successful venture in Philip Glass’ soundscape, Angèle Dubeau now goes on the trail of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. Frequently referred to as meditative, Pärt prefers to describe his music as a light going through a prism, every listener perceiving it in a different way. Angèle Dubeau is revisiting Tabula rasa, Spiegel im Spiegel and Pilgrim’s Song. This is an indispensable album for this era in which nothing seems to be stoppable. With a string of some 30 recordings, many concerts with renowned orchestras and as the conductor of her own ensemble, her talent, passion and musicality have won her uncommon acclaim. Angèle Dubeau & La Pietà is a string orchestra with piano, all top-ranking women musicians, among the best in the country.

"We are terribly distracted these days, and it is costing us our lives and our souls...This is why the music of Part is so compelling and popular across a broad spectrum of listeners. Whatever your beliefs, I suspect that if you give it a chance, this music will force you to sit still and listen and perhaps even reflect for a moment or two on your own humanity. We are so out of touch with true spirituality in our world, but we still crave something, anything, that will help us sort out our most profound feelings. Part's music does just that. This is a magnificent recording - nothing bombastic, just quiet precision and elegance - just what this music needs. Every time I hear this soloist and ensemble, I am impressed. You will be, too." - American Record Guide
